Valerie's family photo shoot

After several months of planning, Valerie and I finally got a chance to do a family shoot in the park. We went to Humbolt and found some shade and had some fun. Kingston, their little one, was as cute as they come and full of energy, as you might be able to tell! Valerie is a doula. For those that don't know, a doula helps comfort and prepare the woman during the preganacy and all the way through the birth. A must have for many couples! Anyway, we both found out we have an interest in green living and swapped some stories and tips. In keeping with the natural theme, I decided to shoot all natural light, looking for areas of even shade to help balance out the lighting. I really just wanted to be a passive observer of their "day in the park" and catch them naturally interacting as a family. Check them out and let me know what you think!

Tara and Shawn - engagement session

I was recently in Pittsburgh and was able to squeeze in a quick engagement session with Tara and Shawn. They have big plans to get married in style in Las Vegas (can't wait for that one!!) and have plans for their big party just about wrapped up. We picked a blazing hot day to do the photos (which seems to be the norm everywhere this summer) so we were dealing with some difficult high-contrast situations, but they were troopers. I tried to incorporate some urban grit, a stock-photography feel and the city skyline into their Pittsburgh themed shoot. I like how Tara's dress matches the Steeler's color scheme. I'm sure she meant to do that!

Anyway, they were great and super photogenic and I'm pretty certain Tara has a modeling gig on the side that she's not telling anyone about.

I had the good pleasure of working with my cousin, Francine from TimeSmart Images (www.timesmartimages.com) on a wedding in Pittsburgh a few weeks back. Francie was a blast to work with...I think we made a good one-two punch if I do say so myself :) Anywho, I had so much fun and wanted to post some of those images up on my blog to share with everyone.

On a side note, I've got a ton of stuff coming up so be sure to check back frequently over the next few weeks. I'll be posting results from my recent engagement shoot with Shawn and Tara soon and I've got lots of weddings coming up, so stay tuned!

Jessica and Chris got married in New Jersey and I was lucky enough to be invited by to provide coverage for their special day! When I first learned that they'd be getting married in Chris's aunt's backyard, I was skeptical. But, I was pleasantly suprised that they actually pulled it off. To the tune of 225 people, no less! It was a magical (and emotional) day for the bride and groom.

Man, I hope all my future couples are this photogenic!

Well, not his REAL wedding in Vegas (which I WOULD HAVE BEEN happy to shoot too!), but his ceremony for his family who couldn't make the trip. An alot has changed!! It's been an eventful couple of months on the Creely homefront. Sorry I've been away for a bit so it's time to get back to posting. Well, I'm officially a married man myself. (sorry ladies :) Erin and I tied the knot on May 8th in the British Virgin Islands (Tortola, actually...on a boat near Tortola). 30 close friends and family came down and we sailed and snorkeled in true wedding style. Pictures to come soon.

We also unfortunately lost some loved ones during the month of May. I had two grandparents and an uncle pass. So I'd like to dedicate this posting to them. Here's a picture of my grandmother about a year before she passed. I just think she looks happy here so I like this photo. Till next time.

Country barn

I travel alot for work, which is nice because I can bring my camera and grab some shots when I see something interesting. One of the places I go fairly often (in fact, I'm headed there tomorrow) is Terre Haute. Yeah, don't be jealous! On the way there, I pass a bunch of interesting old buildings and farmhouses. I've passed this one a few times without stopping but the last time I was there, I decided to pull over on the side of a fairly busy road and get this shot. These old places are great, they have so much character. I'm not sure what I'll use it for, maybe a composite photograph? Anyway, check it out. I think the black and white treatment suits it nicely.

I've been away for a bit. Been doing some traveling (San Francisco might be the prettiest city in the USA) and getting ready for Erin and my pending wedding, which is coming up in less then 6 weeks! We went back to Pittsburgh last weekend for her wedding shower and my cousin Francine was there. She found my camera and was blasting away during shower while I was out with my brother.

I used the opportunity to have a talented photographer there and asked her to snap a few shots of me while she was at it. I'll be posting some of her results shortly. Francine is a talented photographer in Pittsburgh (I highly recommend her), check out her website at www.timesmartimages.com. I plan to use one of them for my website bio.

I also shot a few frames of my aunt holding her new grand daughter. While I was snapping away, I saw her other grand daughter, Reilly, looking out the window. She's a ham in front of the camera and I managed to get a shot of her I liked.

Holy crap! Does that new Tim Burton take on Alice In Wonderland look awesome or what!? His imaging is fantastic and a I really find his work inspiring. Not only is he an incredible film maker, but he's also an amazing photographer as well. I'm thinking I need to step up my game here after looking at these images.

On another note, I have been going through my computer and pulling up some oldies but photos that I like. I never got around to posting them so maybe I'll put myself to work and get some new landscapes posted. Here's one from NYC from last summer. It's not the greatest photo in the world but there's something about it I just like.

Anyway, I'm off to Boston this weekend with Erin to attend her friend's wedding. It's going to be at this amazing venue in Cape Cod. Wish I was the photographer for this one! Maybe I'll bring my camera and snipe a few shots while nobody is looking ;)

The McCammon family shoot

I was fortunate to have an opportunity to shoot a really fun family in the south burbs last weekend. The kids were awesome and full of energy! I had a hard time keeping up with them. My new 5D Mark II came in handy for the low light situation in the house and we also played around outside before the biting cold forced us back indoors. An added bonus was that the grandparents were in from out of town to join in the fun! Here's a few from the day.
